Hybrid working

Create the best hybrid working office space

By Rachelle Dare on in Design

At this point, most of us are familiar with the term hybrid working – a flexible working arrangement where employees are able to work remotely or from a central office location.

The question is, how do we create a great space that supports the wellbeing of workers?

One of the ways to do this is to provide a comfortable work environment, facilitating the tasks required and maximising the time employees spend in the workplace. Luckily, we can help you achieve just that!

Below we have put together our favourite pieces for hybrid working, from moveable acoustic screens and co-working tables, to touchdown desks and quiet corners.

Desk space

Although hybrid working means you might need less desk space over all, having somewhere people are able to sit and work in a traditional manner is still really important. This includes a clear working surface and a supportive office chair, as well as easy access to power for plugging in devices.

Screen dividers

A great way of dividing up space, screens can be moved as much or as little as you like. Available as simple pieces or features in their own right, many also have acoustic properties, whiteboard or pinboard options. Perfect in open plan and creative spaces!

Social spaces

One of the reasons employees want to come back to the office, is the people. As much as technology can foster connection, there’s nothing quite like having a chat over a cup of tea. Research also shows that this connectivity fosters productivity and creativity too. So why not promote these elements in your workspace?

Quiet corners

With employees coming into the workplace in a more flexible way, it might be tempting to fill your space with soft seating and do away with focus spaces altogether. Not so fast! You’ll always need places for people to take calls, have quick meetings or write a report. It’s also important to remember that not everyone works in the same way, so whilst socialising is important some people might also need a quieter spot to work best.
